Life on the road is NOT easy. Living on the road is the worst part of trucking. The job itself is no worse than any other. Physically it’s perhaps easier than many. That might explain why so many Truckers now a days are so grossly out of shape.
Or...it might be because of the living conditions. One tiny example. What do you do at home if you wake up in the middle of the night with diarrhea? You go to the bathroom quickly, which is five or ten foot from your bed?
In that same situation a Trucker is likely to be fifty or a hundred yards away, from the building that the bathroom is housed in...IF there is one. In all kinds of weather.
Less than one in a hundred recruits last the first year...
